There is a lot to see here in Barcelona, located in the northeastern part of Spain. It is a part of the province Catalonia. One of the topmost attractions of Barcelona is Barri Gotic, also known as Ciutat Vella. It is here that you get a mindboggling combination of streets that are winding, squares that stay hidden, fountains, and palaces. You can also buy an “Articket” in this city in case you are planning on visiting several museums in the city. This ticket would cost you around 30 Euros and by buying this you would be able to save a lot of money as well.
There are several spectacular views at night that can be regarded as integral parts of the Barcelona sightseeing experience. The best among these are the musical fountains that are located at Placa d’Espanya. They are operated from Thursday to Sunday during the months between May and October. The show starts at 9 PM and goes on till 11:30 PM. Yet another name that needs to be taken in this regard is Casa Batllo. You can also visit the Torre Agbar office tower. It is highlighted between 7 and 11 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
You can also get some majestic views of Barcelona at night from the Montjuic Hill.
In Barcelona, there are several tourist attractions that will span districts. One of the most important names in this regard is the Harbor Cable Car. It is normally operated from July to September from 11 AM to 8 PM. It can be described as a harbor aerial tramway that covers a distance of 1450 m and connects Barcelona to Montjuic. It starts at Barcelona atop the San Torre Sebastian tower, which happens to be 78 m tall.
The tower also has a restaurant at the top that you can get to with the help of an elevator. There is a stop in between this journey at the Torre Jaume I tower, which is located in the vicinity of the Columbus monument. This point too can be accessed with the help of an elevator. At 107 m it happens to be the second tallest aerial tramway support tower in the world. As you would know the final stop on this journey is Montjuic. In all, the tramway happens to be fairly old considering it was erected in 1929.
This cable car is normally full of tourists during the daytime and as such it could be really tough for people who use wheelchairs or strollers. You need to plan your route really well since the capacity of this particular vehicle is not exactly unlimited. It can take you as long as 1 and a half hour to just get to the vehicle. You should also check if the Torre Jaume tower is open or closed due to renovation. Also, keep in mind that cards are not accepted at the facility. You need to pay in cash. A one-way trip would cost you 10 Euros and a round trip would cost you 15.1 Euros.
Montserrat is an exquisite mountain range that is located just outside the city. It takes just around 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to this hill station from Barcelona. It is only now that you would find that some modern style buildings have been built over there. However, you would still be able to imagine and quite easily at that as to how this area looked around 100 years back. Right at the heart of the mountain range, you would find a lovely monastery as well.
Here you can easily attend the masses. The main attraction of the masses is the live church choir made up of young men that call the monastery their home. In fact, there are plenty of people who regularly scale the heights of Montserrat and challenge themselves to get the kind of thrill that you would only get from activities such as these. It is also an excellent option if you wish to go hiking considering the fact that the paths you traverse are so scenic. From these paths, you can see the nearby cities including Barcelona. The best part of Montserrat is its beauty.
