The Camp Nou, the stadium of FC Barcelona

The Camp Nou is the stadium of FC Barcelona since September 24, 1957, when the facility opened. Barįa's new stadium replaced the old Les Corts, which despite having a capacity for 48,000 remained small with great anticipation that we headed up the team Ladislau Kubala.

The architects Francesc Mirķ and Josep Soteras Mitjans Mauri, with the collaboration of Lorenzo García Barbon, designed the stadium, which was built between 1955 and 1957 with concrete and iron. The work cost about 288 million pesetas and assumed the debt of the club for a few years.

Although initially his name was Estadi del FC Barcelona, grassroots quickly renamed 'Camp Nou', as the stadium replaced the old Les Corts.

With a capacity of 99,354 people, is currently the largest stadium in Europe. The capacity of the stadium, however, has undergone several changes due to the various extensions that have been made. Initially, in 1957 could hold 93 053 spectators, a figure that reached 120,000 in 1982, coinciding with the celebration of the World Cup. Subsequently, pursuant to the regulations necessary to remove ordinary locations, capacity stood at the end of the 90s, in the line of 99,000 spectators.

During the 1998-99 season, UEFA recognized the services and functionality of the Camp Nou stadium and classified as "five star". Throughout the Spanish state, there are only four stages that have: Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, also in Barcelona, the Olympic Stadium of La Cartuja in Seville, the Estadio Vicente Calderon in Madrid and Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, also in Madrid.

Among the installations and facilities that are inside the stadium include a small chapel next to the changing rooms, the boxes, the VIP lounge, press room, several television studios, the press boxes, technical service offices, Sports Medicine Center, Operational Control Unit (OCU), the local group of former players, the Museum of FC Barcelona, daycare and offices of various departments of the club.
